This is a multi-media presentation given by a veteran domestic violence and child abuse prosecutor. The following areas will be covered during the presentation:
- Impact of children witnessing domestic violence from a
prosecutor's perspective
- How police & prosecutors deal with issue of children witnessing domestic violence at the scene & in the courtroom
- Prosecution of witnessing domestic violence as child abuse
- Strategies to protect children in court
- Conditions of probation
The course objectives are to:
- Increase the awareness of the problem
- Increase the identification of children at the scene
- Improve the documentation of evidence for prosecuting child abuse where children witness domestic violence
- Improve prevention strategies
