When working with batterers only one thing is constant, the level of their denial is usually off the scale. Therefore, the approach taken by the professional is critical. What is your opening statement when facing a roomful of resistive, mandated offenders? What model does your agency use? How were you trained and where did you learn your classroom 'presence'?
Mandated populations are, by definition, different from the rest of the
citizens in a community. Carl Reddick brings 25 years of law enforcement to
the Domestic Violence issue and Don Chapin, a Native American, addresses the
boundaries of 'cultural voyeurism' when working with diverse populations.
This fun and fast-paced presentation is based on the award-winning "Language
of Supervision" series. It addresses the belief system of both the batterer
and the professional. It explores that explosive area where the cognition of
the batterer meets the cognition of the court system and the court's
representative...you.
