Anthony Porter, Director of Addiction Services, Nyack Hospital,New York

         
     Anthony Porter is the Director of Addiction Services for Nyack Hospital where he is responsible for an inpatient detoxification program, a rehabilitation program and an outpatient clinic. He is also the Director of Training for Rockland County Council on Alcoholism and other Drug Dependencies where he facilitates a training program for addiction specialist. He is also the Project Director for the Rockland County Incarcerated Parents Project where he is responsible for educational groups for incarcerated men and women, along with case management and advocacy upon their release. He is Faculty member of Volunteer Counseling Services Community Change Project's National Training Institute on "Batterer Program: Balancing Social Change, Offender Accountability & Program Implementation", where he formerly instructed domestic violence classes for men who batter. He is a faculty member for New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services Academy of Addiction Studies were he co-authored their curriculum for clinicians who work with chemically dependent African-Americans, he also teaches several of their curriculums including “ Cultural, Ethnic and Racial Diversity” and "Adult Domestic Violence: the Alcohol and Other Drug Connection". He facilitates training throughout New York State as well as nationally. Other training topics include; chemical dependency, cultural diversity, theories of oppression and male accountability toward ending violence against women. He resides with his family in Orange County, New York. He is originally from New York City.
