Dr. Christopher Kilmartin is a
college professor, author, stand-up comedian, actor, playwright,
consultant and professional psychologist. He is a Professor of
Psychology at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. He
holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Virginia
Commonwealth University and is a licensed clinical psychologist
who has a great deal of experience consulting with businesses,
college students, human services workers, and counselors.
His major scholarly work is The Masculine Self (second
edition, McGraw-Hill, 2000). Together with co-author John Lynch,
he wrote The Pain behind the Mask: Overcoming Masculine
Depression (Haworth, 1999). Sexual Assault in Context:
Teaching College Men about Gender (2001, Learning
Publications), a manual based on his consultation experiences,
is his latest book. In his spare time, Dr. Kilmartin is a
professional stand-up comedian, and he has written a solo
performance theatre piece on men's issues entitled Crimes
Against Nature. This work, an integration of his scholarly
and performing interests, and performed by the author, debuted
in March, 1998 and has since toured to over 100 campuses and
other venues. Dr. Kilmartin has also been involved in National
leadership of the White Ribbon Campaign, a grass-roots effort to
decrease men's violence against women. |
