Course Description
Join Sgt. Joanne Archambault (Retired) and Sgt. Anne O'Dell
(Retired) for 2 days of "state of the art" training in the
investigation of sexual assault and domestic violence. This course
will focus on Domestic Violence Intervention, Sophistication of
Batterers, Strangulation Investigative Techniques, Mutual Combat,
Lethality/Risk Assessment/Stalking, Dynamics of Sexual Assault:
Investigating Tough Cases (non-stranger, drug facilitated sexual
assault, mentally ill, runaways), Understanding the Impact of
Sexual Assault and Developing Skills to Interview Survivors, the
Impact of DNA on the Sexual Assault Investigation, Evidence
Assessment, Interpretation of Findings and Case Impact.

Bios
Joanne Archambault worked for the San Diego Police
Department for over 22 years, the last 10 in the Sex Crimes Unit.
Ms. Archambault worked with the National Center for Women &
policing to develop the first national sexual assault training
curriculum for law enforcement. She recently produced the training
video "Investigating Sexual Assault: The Preliminary Response".
She lectures nation-wide to multi-disciplinary audiences on the
role of law enforcement in the investigation of sex crimes.
Anne O'Dell worked for the SDPD
for 20 years, the last 6 years she specialized in Domestic
Violence and Stalking. She pioneered the methods of investigating
domestic violence crimes. Currently, Ms. O'Dell is the Training
Director for STOPDV, Inc., and has trained criminal justice,
judicial and medical professionals world-wide. She authored the
SDPD's Preliminary Investigations Manual and has produced training
videos on domestic violence and stalking.
